1 EXT. WHISPERING PINES CEMETERY - DAY #1 1
LOIS AND CLARK are among the mourners attending Mayson's
graveside funeral. PERRY and JIMMY stand quietly off to the
side, Jimmy next to an attractive girl. A PRIEST delivers
the final benediction.
PRIEST
Into your hands, oh Lord, we
commend thy faithful servant,
Mayson Drake. Receive her into the
arms of thy mercy, into the blessed
rest of everlasting peace. Amen.
Pull back to include a new passenger van (e.g. Aerostar)
slowly rolling to a stop in the b.g.
2 INT. VAN - DAY - CONTINUOUS 2
STANLEY GABLES, somewhat eccentric, 40ish, sits in the
passenger seat. Seated behind the steering wheel is ALBIE
SWINSON, 30's, Stanley's loyal assistant. Stanley opens a (X)
large jar of Vitamin C and pops several into his mouth. (X)
GABLES
You realize that getting rid of
Mayson Drake only solved half our

ALBIE
We have people out looking for the

GABLES
I don't want looking. I want
finding. Let's go.
Albie drops the Van in gear and slowly accelerates.

10 EXT. CEMETERY - DAY - PLOT #29b - SHORT TIME LATER 10
The coffin has been lowered. The two grave diggers, CRAVEN
and AL tend to the grave. Al sits behind the controls of an
earth mover as Craven stands off to the side with a shovel.
As the earth mover ROARS to life, lifting dirt and dumping
it into the grave, Lois returns with Clark in tow. She
gestures wildly to the grave diggers amid the NOISE.
LOIS
(shouting over the roar)
Hey! Wait! Stop!
Craven gestures to Al to cut the engine. He does.
CRAVEN
You got a problem, lady?
LOIS
The body you just buried is still

Craven just shoots her a look, then starts to shovel some

LOIS (CONT'D)
Hey! I know what I saw!

Clark nods as Lois approaches.
PERRY (CONT'D)
Oh, by the way, there's a federal
agent from the DEA coming by later
today looking into Mayson's murder.
Maybe he can shed some light on
your investigation.
LOIS
Why's the DEA involved?
PERRY
Don't know. Could be they think

CLARK
See if you can find some connection

'resurrection.' My guess is it
would be something she worked on
recently.
Clark SPEED READS the files. Lois scans the desk top. Her
eyes rest on a file marked STANLEY GABLES.
LOIS
Here's something she received the
day before she died. It's a file
on someone named Stanley Gables.

LOIS
It's open, Clark!
Clark enters, loaded down with reference books, oblivious to
the romantic setting. Lois enters from the kitchen with a

CLARK
I picked up some books from the

Shakespeare, Jung's Collective

a reference to _resurrection_.
LOIS
I hope you're hungry.
Clark puts his books down and sits on the sofa. Lois puts

CLARK

Through the darkness, she sees the back of the intruder.
She lunges and gets off a few whacks until he grabs her

him, pinning his legs. She reaches over and flips on a

LOIS

SCARDINO (X)
Please. Call me Daniel.
LOIS

SCARDINO (X)
Uh, Lois, much as I have fantasized

you're crushing my legs.
(as she rises)
Look, I'm sorry. I rang the bell.
You didn't answer.
LOIS

SCARDINO (X)
Yeah. I can see that now.
Lois, flustered, tightens her robe around her and walks to

LOIS
I can't believe I defended you to
Clark. He was right. You _are_

Scardino hesitates. This is painful for him. Then... (X)

Lois moves to the couch, perches on the edge, listening

his name on it on Mayson's desk!
CLARK
There's more. According to the

Mallory and Martinez on the days

Scardino suddenly pops his head over Lois' shoulder. (X)
